Snowberry is an adaptable and tolerant deciduous shrub, found flourishing in varying conditions of sun and shade, drought and flooding, poor soil, steep slopes, harsh winters and neglect. Establishing readily, it is a good choice for bank stabilization and erosion control. 

Often used as an ornamental shrub, it’s white berries remain throughout the winter and are an important food source for native birds. It holds pink flowers in the spring and summer which attract hummingbirds and pollinator bees. 

It’s best to give Snowberry plenty of space to create a dense thicket as it provides ground cover, soil stabilization, and nesting sites for birds and small animals. 

Snowberry stays relatively small, averaging about four feet tall – so it is a good choice for areas where view corridors are important.
